Driver Runs From Vehicle After Causing Five Car Accident; 3 Children Injured

CENTER CITY (CBS) -- Police say a driver ran from a vehicle after causing a five car crash in West Philadelphia that left three young children and three adults injured Friday afternoon.

Police say the driver of a Black Cadillac was driving on Walnut Street when he ran a red light at 57th and struck a white Lexus, causing a 6-year old boy to be thrown from the vehicle. The driver then ran south on Alden Street. The 6-year old suffered internal bleeding and several fractures, and is hospitalized in stable condition.

In addition, two 3-year old girls in the Lexus suffered minor injuries, and two women in their 50s suffered broken ribs and cuts. A 56-year old female in the Cadillac suffered a broken leg, while all other drivers involved were not seriously injured.
