Darby Borough Police Issues State Of Emergency Due To Uptick In Gun Violence In The City
DARBY, Pa. (CBS) - Darby Borough Police are planning to enact a State of Emergency in response to recent violence in the city.
Authorities say they are taking action against 'an uptick in gun violence' on the borough's streets.
At a press conference held Friday night, Darby Borough mayor Helen Thomas declared a state of emergency to be in effect for the next ten days, or until the violence stops.
The announcement comes after five separate shooting incidents within the previous 72-hours.
"If you are in a group of more than three people and you are causing a disturbance, you're going to be stopped and you're going to be cited," said the Darby Police Chief

In addition to an 8 p.m. curfew during the course of the state of emergency, Darby burough officials have announced an increase in police presence on the streets.
