City Controller Alan Butkovitz Will Not Be Running In Next Phila. Mayoral Race

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A run for Philadelphia Mayor is not in the cards for the City Controller.

Alan Butkovitz has decided he will not be running in the next mayoral race.

"Alan has been actively exploring a run for months now, been making thousands of phone calls. But the way the field is shaping up, and the way the political calculations are working, there's just not, things are just not coming together," says spokesman Anthony Campisi.

Butkovitz had said in the past that he would not run if Council President Darrel Clarke would run. But Campisi insists he has no knowledge on what Clarke is going to do. Others already in the race, or jumping in on Wednesday, are Terry Gillen, Ken Trujillo, State Senator Anthony Williams and Former DA Lynne Abraham.
