Cash Mobs Pledge Support For Local Small Businesses
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - International cash mob day is this coming Saturday. It's an effort to support local business.
Time and place are usually learned through Facebook and Twitter. Those participating in the cash mobs meet outside the selected small business and enter together. The establishment is most of the time aware of the possibility of a sudden surge in business.
"We try to get everyone to promise 20 dollars," organizer Shahrzad Kojouri says. "Come out it's for a good cause, supporting fun people and really trying to build this up."
Kojouri started Cash Mob Philly last month and the group supported business in Manayunk. This Saturday it's Glenside at 1pm at The Dovetails Artisans at Glenside Avenue and Bickley Road. Then a of couple blocks away at the train station every one mobs Elcy's cafe.
Kojouri hopes to make the effort a monthly thing.
