Camden County Offers Free Flu Shots at Its Annual Senior Health Fair
By David Madden
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS) -- As many as two thousand people turned out today for the 18th annual Camden County Senior Health Fair, at Cooper River Park.
"G-54…"
But this was far more than a bingo game under a tent. The idea here was to promote healthy living among the senior set.
"We see it as a way to get a captive audience and a lot of people at one time to receive flu shots," says Ann Biondi (right), the county's director of health and human services.
Pine Hill resident Jack Stein, 70, had already gotten his flu shot through the Veterans Administration but admitted he was there to get whatever he could for free:
"Grab some stuff, see some of the old people around here, and see what's going on, every now and then pick up information on other things going on in the community."
County officials had considered eliminating this event due to budget cuts, but opted to keep it going because most of the services here are donated by partnering organizations.
