PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- School Reform Commissioner Bill Green now says he's not going to court to challenge his removal as SRC chair.
Bill Green, in a statement, says he still believes Governor Wolf did not have the legal right to remove him as chair of the School Reform Commission last week.
But Green says he will not pursue a Commonwealth Court ruling on the governor's authority, saying he doesn't want to distract from the effort to fund Superintendent Hite's new plan. Green says he found the Governor's action "disturbing," because Green says it's important for the SRC to be able to conduct its business with political independence, and to be perceived by the public as independent. Green says Wolf has given the teachers union "a political win, a win that does nothing to advance the interests of children."
