Bill Belichick Supports Chip Kelly: 'He's Done A Great Job'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Bill Belichick doesn't speak often, so when he does, you know he means business.

The four-time Super Bowl winning head coach of the New England Patriots defended Chip Kelly, who was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles despite a 26-21 record in three seasons, minus a game.

"I'd say it's really disappointing," Belichick said. "I mean, Chip Kelly, to me, is a really good football coach. He does a great job and he's done a great job with that team," Belichick said via ESPN.com. "Pretty much everyone is one a one-year contract in this league. I don't know how you build a program in one year. ... Chip is a great coach. He'll end up somewhere and will do a great job there."

Belichick took it a step further and defended Kelly the highly-scrutinized personnel guy, as well.

"I'd say a lot of the players that were on the Eagles, that are no longer on the Eagles, aren't really doing too much for anybody else either."
