Autopsy Determines Elderly Couple Found Dead In Montgomery County Died Of Natural Causes

LOWER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – An elderly couple found dead inside their Montgomery County home apparently died from natural causes.

Salvatore C. Fazio, 86, and his wife, Shirley J. Fazio, 81, were discovered inside their home in the unit block of North Trooper Road between Mann Road and Ridge Pike in Lower Providence Township around noon on Jan. 24th (see previous story).

Later that day, crews in hazard suits combed through the residence looking for clues. They tested the carbon monoxide levels in the house, which registered low, and determined that the heating system was operational.

Neighbors described the pair as gracious and sharing a love of travel.

Authorities said the couple appeared to have been dead for some time and there were no signs of any violence at the scene.

Now, an autopsy has determined that the couple died of natural causes. Officials say the investigation is closed.
