Atlantis Commander Chris Ferguson And Crew Contact KYW Newsradio

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Shuttle Atlantis is hovering some 200 miles above the Pacific Ocean. Commanding the final NASA mission is Chris Ferguson, a Philadelphia native.

KYW Newsradio made contact with Ferguson and his crew this morning. They shared stories about some of the technical difficulties they have experienced on the shuttle.

Ferguson says even astronauts have computer problems from time to time.

"It's true. We've had a couple of them had given us a little bit of a hiccup. Last night, one of them woke us up and we had to work on that one a little bit. But we have them all up and running right now."

You can hear KYW anchors Harry Donahue & Carol MacKenzie talk with the Shuttle Atlantis crew in this CBS Philly 'Specials Place' podcast…

There is a piece of Philly up there with Ferguson.

"(From) a key player on the Phils and we hope to be able to take a trip up there and return it to him at the World Series."

Even when pressed, Ferguson declined to name the player.
