Arcade Fire Requests Fans Dress Up For Concert
By Ian Bush
PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--Tickets are now on sale for the Arcade Fire concert at the Wells Fargo Center in March.
There's plenty of buzz around the indie rockers but also for a request the band is making of fans.
It's printed on the ticket: "Night of show, please wear formal attire or a costume."
A dress code, says Comcast Spectacor spokesman Ike Richman.
But getting gussied up for a show is nothing new.
"If you were to come to a Kiss concert, fans often come dressed up as Kiss. If you come to a Madonna concert, people tend to wear these extravagant outfits."
But that's normally a fan's choice.
"This is really the first time at a rock show where the artist is actually requesting that you do wear formal attire or a costume."
Although this is a "request" what would happen if concertgoers show up in jeans and a button-down?
Richman says, "Well, you won't be turned away. Maybe you'll have as much fun as the guy sitting next to you in a tie or the guy next to you in a costume. You're here to rock out, and I think no matter what you wear, you'll rock out with Arcade Fire."
As Arcade Fire says, relax it's just part of the "carnival" they want their shows to be.
