A Checklist For Traveling Abroad; What You Need Before Taking Off
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This is the time of year many of us like to travel because popular destinations are normally less crowded.
Your passport may not be enough when traveling abroad, you should make sure vaccinations are up to date and depending on your destination, you may need protection against Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A or Zika.
Dr. Todd Braun is the Chief of Infectious Diseases at Abington Memorial Hospital, he says sometimes you get sick when you return.
"If patients come back feeling ill then they need to seek medical attention because it's not uncommon to develop travel associated diarrhea in addition to that there's also the risk of other illnesses, hepatitis and malaria."
Don't forget to pack the basics, such as band-aids, antibiotic cream and insect repellent.
