2 Dead, 2 Wounded In Separate Overnight Shootings In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two people are dead and two others were wounded in a pair of double shootings overnight in Philadelphia.

The first shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday outside of the Tropical Heat Bar near 53rd and Market Streets in the city's Cobb Creek section.

Police say two women, ages 29 and 35, were walking out of the bar when they were approached by two armed men wearing hoodies who demanded money.

"The decedent gave up her purse and for some unknown reason was shot," said Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs. "The other girl, upon having her friend shot, took off running, and she was also shot."

Authorities say the suspects fled the scene.

The 29-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 35-year-old woman is listed in critical condition at the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania.

No arrests have been made.

The second incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near South 57th Street and Hoffman Avenue in Kingsessing.

Police say a 22-year-old man was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania. A second victim, a 20-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He is listed in critical condition at HUP.

Police have no suspects and no motive for the shooting.
