11 Year Old Boy Shot, In Critical Condition

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Just before 4pm on Sunday, 22nd District Police responded to calls reporting gunshots at Oxford and Gratz streets in North Philadelphia.

When police arrived, they found a boy, 11, with a gunshot wound in his right hip.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.

According to police, the 11 year old victim was playing basketball with several friends when he was struck by a stray bullet. After he was shot, he ran into a house and collapsed.

At least 15 other shots were fired.

Police believe that there may have been two shooters firing at each other, and are examining video evidence from surveillance cameras in the area.

Police say the shooter may be a man in his 20s, wearing blue or dark colored clothing. He may have fled the scene in a blue Mercury.
