Zolak To Call Signals For Pats
Scott Zolak will replace injured Drew Bledsoe at quarterback Sunday when the New England Patriots play the San Francisco 49ers.
Coach Pete Carroll decided to go with Zolak ahead of Tom Tupa, who will be the backup quarterback as well as the punter. Zolak has made only five starts during his eight years in the NFL
Bledsoe has a broken right index finger and will miss his first game in more than three years. He injured the finger against the Miami Dolphins last month.
Playing with a splint, Bledsoe led the Patriots to wins over Buffalo and Pittsburgh. But he went only 11-for-35 in a loss to St. Louis on Sunday.
