World's highest webcam reaches Mt. Everest
If the snow clears, it may provide one of the more breathtaking sites that you'll ever see - and judging from the effort to reach this height, we do mean breathtaking.
Click here between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Nepalese time, for a view from a webcam set up by a team using technology provided by the German company Mobotix. Researchers working under the auspices of the Everest Share 2011 research project, trekked some 18,000 feet up Kala Patthar, a mountain in the Himalayas to measure weather conditions on Everest, where temperatures can reach minus 30 degrees Celsius. The reason for the limited hours: the Webcam runs on solar power and thus is only active during daylight hours.
