Who would throw this kitten out of a moving car?

(CBS) - Looking into this adorable Russian Blue kitten's eyes, I can't imagine what kind of person could toss it from a moving car. Whatever happened to leaving it on doorstep, ringing the doorbell and running to a safe distance to make sure someone takes it in?

Luckily for the kitten, a Staten Island, N.Y. Animal Shelter worker witnessed the whole thing and immediately rescued it from traffic.
