White House Lovebirds?

President Clinton has a rosy assessment of his marriage.
On National Public Radio's Diane Rhem Show, Mr. Clinton was asked, "What does eight years in the White House do to a marriage?"

He answered, "I think it's been good for ours because I got to live above the store."

Mr. Clinton noted that "Until Hillary started runnin' for the Senate, we actually had more time together than we did previously." The president recalled that he and Mrs. Clinton spent "a lot of happy days just talking and reading" by the White House swimming pool.
"You can get busy and drift apart, I guess, in any circumstances but for us, we worked hard before we got here and we had a lot of things to do and we probably had more time together in our time here than in any point in our marriage and I enjoyed that immensely. It's been wonderful for us," he said.

There were no mentions of the Lewinsky scandal or other personal controversies during the interview.
