This story was written by Joseph Weisenthal.

WePlay, the community and youth sports site incubated out of CAA, has raised an $8.6 million second round led by Deep Fork Capital. Past backer FirstMark Capital (fka Pequot Ventures) also participated, as did senior executives and pro athletes Derek Jeter, LeBron James and Peyton Manning. All three of those athletes had previously been affiliated with the site, and the previously stated plan was to offer all 300 athletes on the CAA roster the chance to get involved with the site. The previous round of $4.5 million was announced earlier this year, for a total raise of $13.1 million.

The NYC-based company offers various community tools, including social networking type profiles, blogs and team calendars for teams. CEO Steve Hansen was formerly the COO of Geocities Release.
