Wedding photos lawsuit: Man demands $48K do-over
NEW YORK - A New York City man has filed a lawsuit seeking $48,000 to recreate his 2003 wedding, even though the marriage ended in divorce.
The New York Times reports that Todd Remis sued H & H Photographers claiming that the photographers missed the last dance and the bouquet toss.
Remis wants to be repaid the $4,100 cost of the photography. He also wants $48,000 to recreate the entire wedding and fly the principals to New York so the celebration can be re-shot by another photographer.
The studio says that might be difficult since the bride has returned to her native Latvia.
It is unclear why Remis, an "equity research analyst," waited more than six years to file the lawsuit, and much of it has already been dismissed as baseless.
But Justice Doris Ling-Cohan of State Supreme Court in Manhattan has allowed the case to proceed to determine whether there was a breach of contract, the Times reports.
In addition to concerns about the three-person photography crew missing part of the ceremony, Remis said that the photographs were "unacceptable as to color, lighting, poses, positioning," according to the Times, and that a video he believed would be six hours in length was only two hours long.
Remis is represented by his father's law firm, but said he is paying for the representation.
An owner of the studio called the case "an abuse of the legal system."
A hearing in the case is scheduled for Thursday in Manhattan.
