Wedding March For 'The Nanny'
Fran Drescher's character will take the walk down the aisle with her boss in Wednesday night's one-hour season finale.
CBS This Morning Co-Anchor Mark McEwen interviewed Drescher to find out about the wedding of The Nanny.
"It's very romantic. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry. It's very engaging"said Drescher.
CBS pulled out all the stops for the hit sitcom.
"There is a lot of nostalgia," says Drescher. "The nanny has a dream sequence where she ends up in the Ricardos' living room [on I Love Lucy] talking to Lucy."
On the set, 40,000 flowers were used to create the perfect ambiance. But that's nothing compared to the wedding ring, a 7 1/2 carat bauble worth $500,000. Needless to say, to Drescher, it felt "pretty awesome" on her finger.
"Now we have a prop, stunt double for the ring," Drescher recalls. "But whenever we used the real one, there were always so many bodyguards around. It wasn't my body, it was the ring they were concerned about."
Then there's the wedding dress, which Drescher will not get to keep. It's being given away as a prize in a joint promotional sweepstakes with Entertainment Tonight.
"Are you kidding me? This dress I'm not going to be able to keep? No, some lucky bride," Drescher says with a laugh.
And then the zinger: "She won't fit in it."
