"We Will Absolutely Have The Delegate Count We Need"

(CBS)

From CBS News' Andante Higgins:

BROOKFIELD, WIS. -- "Regardless of the outcome of Texas and Ohio, we will absolutely have the delegate count we need on March 4th," said Mark McKinnon, a senior adviser to John McCain's campaign. "We think we will have a spirited debate in Texas and Ohio, but we feel like Republicans across the board have coalesced around John McCain now."

The Arizona senator will continue to campaign in the primaries as long as Mike Huckabee is in the race, but they are also preparing themselves for a general election. "We will continue to respect Mike Huckabee and the primary process, but we think we will evolve into a general election campaign in terms of schedule," said McKinnon.

Sticking with a primary schedule for now, McCain is in Brookfield, Wisconsin, and will start his day with a rally here on the day of the Badger State primary.

"We think we have a good chance to win [in Wisconsin] and this will just add to our delegate count. We feel with Mitt Romney's delegates that we already have what we need, but this just adds to the count and we will soon be the nominee of the party," McKinnon said. McCain is assuming Romney's delegates will support him, even though they are not bound to do so.

Senator McCain jets off to Ohio this afternoon where he will watch the returns of tonight's election results. He will continue with his message of national security and economic reform as he campaigns throughout the state.
