Waxman Wants More On Rove's 'Asset Deployment' Team

House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.) wrote yet another letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales requesting more documents in his ongoing investigation of possible violations by federal employees who are prohibited from using government resources for political gain.

His most recent missive stems from a story that appeared in The Washington Post over the weekend about Karl Rove's "asset deployment" team, which coordinated appearances and announcements -- both major and minor -- among political appointees in the various federal agencies to advance Republican priorities and protect vulnerable incumbents.

Waxman, who has a history of issuing "letters" on the heels of stories his staff planted in the news (although never to me, damn it), has been investigating these potential violations for much of the year.
