Watch: 25,003 stuffed animals fall on hockey rink

(CBS) - Most people are familiar with hockey's hat trick tradition: when a player scores three goals in a game, fans toss their hats on the ice. A no less venerable, and much more adorable, tradition is the Teddy Bear Toss. Popular among minor and junior league hockey teams, fans bring out their stuffed animals once a year and dump them in the rink for charity. What does it look like when tens of thousands of fans blanket the ice with teddy bears? It looks something like this.

The Calgary Hitmen are masters of the Teddy Bear Toss. This clip from last Sunday's game against the Medicine Hat Tigers saw over 25,000 stuffed animals rain on the field. 25,003 to be exact. Incredibly, this is not even a record for Teddy Bear tosses. A 2007 game, also featuring the Hitmen, saw 26,919 plush pets rain on the rink.

As the Calgary Herald reports, players will be donating every one of the 25,003 toys in person to local hospitals.
