Washington Salutes Knight For Emmy Nod

Isaiah Washington says his former costar T.R. Knight finally got the attention he deserved when he was nominated for an Emmy on Thursday.

"T.R. Knight is a good actor. He has been a wonderful actor from day one," Washington told Billy Bush in an interview that aired Thursday on "Access Hollywood."

"T.R. Knight, congratulations. He finally got the attention he deserved."

The former "Grey's Anatomy" star, who was fired from the show earlier this year, did not submit himself for an Emmy consideration this year.

"Whether or not it serves any particular agenda that (Knight is) nominated now, to make a point, I can't speak on that. That's theoretical. I don't know, but good for him," Washington said.

Washington told Bush that the controversy surrounding him on the "Grey's" set was not the reason why he didn't submit himself for Emmy consideration.

"It wasn't about not submitting because I was afraid of the backlash," Isaiah said. "I didn't want the pain of being nominated and losing. I didn't have a good time at the last Emmys. It was the stress of 'Are we going to win? Are we going to win?' the whole day. I remember being on the red carpet and it was hot and my wife and I had the biggest argument because of my nerves."

It was announced this week that Washington will guest star in a five episode arc on NBC's fall show "Bionic Woman." He also has a development deal with the network for an action series.
