RICHMOND, Va. (CBS/AP)  Christian Taylor, a 16-year-old freshman at Grafton High School in Yorktown, Va., took his own life on Memorial Day after reportedly enduring months of relentless bullying.

York County authorities are investigating the events prior to the suicide of the boy, who was found hanging in his bedroom Monday, reports CBS affiliate WTKR.

Taylor's mother, Alissa Williams, told the station, "All I remember is looking into my son's eyes, because he had the most beautiful blue eyes, and he was staring and he was cold."

Williams says that she and her son had reported the bullying to school administrators and law enforcement officials, but nothing was done to stop the other boy from tormenting her son.

Sheriff's officials claimed they looked into the situation, but turned it over to school officials after deciding that no crime had been committed; however, in light of the suicide, the sheriff's department is going to review the case and determine if any laws were broken.

Taylor and his family moved to Virginia in January after his step-father who is in the Army was transferred.

Although it is unclear when the harassment escalated, Taylor's mother first learned of the bullying two weeks ago when the other student apparently said something to Taylor who is an avid skateboarder that made him want to retaliate.

Williams told her son to tell an adult and not to take matters into his own hands, but on one occasion the alleged bully said to her son..."you need to just go commit suicide and get it over with."

Since her son's death, Williams has contacted the school repeatedly and says nothing has been done.

"They still didn't do anything--they didn't suspend him, they didn't do anything," she told WTKR, adding that she plans to pursue legal action.

"They were calling (Taylor) names, calling him weird. Why ... because he doesn't dress like you? Because he just came from Texas and he likes to skateboard?"
