Warm, Trendy -- Affordable -- Winter Coats

Fall is here, temperatures are dropping, and one thing is certain: It's time to think about buying that new winter coat. But finding the perfect wrap to keep you warm and be in style can be an expensive proposition, right? Not necessarily.

Alison Deyette, fashion stylist of TLC's "10 Years Younger," stopped by The Early Show Saturday Edition with some great coats that will save you money, but keep you looking like a million bucks.

She pointed out that you can buy an inexpensive coat and, with just a few touches, make it look like a high-end, designer coat.

BARGAIN COATS DEYETTE BROUGHT (and the models who wore them), as described on the show by Deyette:

MARIA: Simply Vera Wang for Kohl's $169

Maria is wearing a grey, faux-fur short jacket by Simply Vera by Vera Wang for Kohl's. This is a great way to wear a designer name for a lot less, you'll see more and more designers are doing lower-priced lines for shops like Kohl's and H&M. This is faux-fur gone glam! It looks like the real thing, it's a style statement, but no animals were harmed to make this coat. It's great with a cocktail dress or with dark jeans for weekend wear. It comes with its own belt, but you can change the belt to give the coat a different look. You can also change the look with accessories, long leather gloves, a tote for day, a clutch for night.

LAUREN'S COAT IS ALL ABOUT COLOR: TJ Maxx $129

Lauren's coat is from TJ Maxx. It's teal blue and it just shouts personality. It's a punch of brilliant color in an affordable statement-making coat that is the perfect length for skirts and dresses. The coat has lapels, pockets and button detail. We've added a studded belt at the waist. And because the old rule that said your coat must be longer than your dress is dead, what you wear underneath the coat can dress it up or down and make it look very elegant. Lauren is wearing a patterned dress and tall boots. Trendy accessories like this news boy cap help make the coat look pricier.

STACEY: WE'RE SEEING A LOT OF CHECKS THIS SEASON; JC Penney Worthington $90

Stacey is wearing a hounds tooth check, but we're seeing all kinds of checks, tartans, plaids. This black and white double breasted coat is by JC Penney Worthington, and it's only $90. We've all heard that style this season is borrowing heavily from "Mad Men", and this is the perfect coat for that. It will become and instant classic, and you will keep it as part of your wardrobe for years to come. And don't go down the road of putting either a black scarf, or white scarf, use something bright or patterned to make this coat look more upscale. Again, the long opera gloves add a bit of elegance, and the patterned tights.

ELENA IS NEXT, IN A PARKA: Land's End Angel Down Parka $125

Elena is wearing a Lands End parka that's less than $125. Look at the color, that pale gold is very hot this season, and puffer coats are still big. The company says it will keep you warm in temperatures as low as 15-degrees. It's water-repellent, 500 fill goose down and has a zip-off faux fur collar. Add a great cashmere sweater and winter white corduroys, and it looks like you've just stepped off the slopes in Aspen.

ELLE: AGAIN, WE'RE SEEING COLOR; Club Monaco $299

Elle is wearing a Club Monaco orange funnel-neck coat. This is the most expensive coat we're seeing today, and it's only $299. This year, you can ditch the boring black and add a splash of color, so you make a fashion statement before you've even taken off your coat. This is a great coat on its own, but to add that touch of elegance, we've added this grey patent leather belt. Since the coat is so bright, the grey belt, and grey tights are unexpected, but the play perfectly off the coat. The great color tights they're showing this season are a truly inexpensive way to add a little something to any coat. It's all about adding something that ups the elegance factor, not to make it splashier.
