Do-It-Yourself Wallpaper
Waverly4
Available at: www.waverly.com
Prime and paste the wall, not the paper. The paste goes on blue so you can tell at a glance if you've missed a spot, but dries to a clear finish. Once the paste is on, you simply apply the paper to the wall, smoothing and trimming it to fit. Waverly4 installs in about 40 percent less time than it takes to install pre-pasted wallpapers, and there's no mess to clean up afterward.
Polyester fibers in Waverly4 wallpapers provide strength and durability so there's no stretching or tearing as the paper is applied around corners. And it's washable so you can quickly wipe fingerprints away. Another plus, especially in bathrooms, is that Waverly4 is breathable and won't hold the moisture that can lead to mold and mildew.
Nickell's Tip: There are very few rooms that are absolutely straight, and many do-it-yourselfers make the mistake of starting the wallpaper in the corner of the room and work towards the center. This is a big mistake. Buy a Laser beam Plum line at any hardware store and start the wallpaper pattern in the center of the wall and work out towards the corners. This way, you can ensure that your pattern will hang straight.
