Violent high school hazing incident investigated in Wash. State
(CBS) KENMORE, Wash. - Detectives in Snohomish County, Wash. are investigating whether a group of seniors who graduated from Inglemoor High School in Kenmore will be charged in a brutal hazing incident, CBS affiliate KIRO reports.
The teens, who were part of a school spirit group called the "Naked Viks," are accused of blindfolding and brutally beating James Walvatne, along with six other high school juniors, last Monday night, June 17, in a park as part of an initiation, the station reports.
"They used PVC pipes, headless golf clubs, and flour and maple syrup. They peed on us and stuff," Walvatne told the station.
Neighbors reportedly heard screams and called police.
"We woke up to what sounded like someone staple gunning someone, and screaming," nearby resident Jeannie Collier said.

Walvatne reportedly said he didn't tell the other students to stop beating him because he wanted to be part of the group, which cheers at the school's football games.
"It's just tradition. I don't think they should be in trouble that could just ruin their lives," Walvatne told KIRO.
But his mother says it's a tradition that has to stop.
"This needs to be stopped, this initiation. It's not right. You can't do this. People cannot do this to other people," Sara Walvatne, James's mother, told the station.
Since James didn't tell the students to stop, it's unclear what charges could be filed against them.
A spokesperson for the Northshore School District said administrators were notified about the incident on June 18 and they are cooperating with detectives in the investigation. The district is also reportedly working to issue a no-trespass order to the students involved in the incident.
Leanna Albrecht, the district communications director, told the station that the school has heard rumors of violent hazing in the past, but never found any evidence.
"We are deeply disturbed by the actions of these few individuals...Our thoughts are with the students who were injured and their families. School officials are fully cooperating with the police department in its investigation and are actively encouraging families to pursue charges," Albrecht reportedly said.
Members of the "Naked Viks" have been banned from Inglemoor High School and all school-related events, the station reports.
