View Word Attachments Right Inside Gmail

Good news for Gmail users: No longer must you perform the download-save-open dance just to view an attached Word document. Starting today, Gmail has a built-in viewer for Word files.

Previously, your only option for previewing .doc and .docx files was View as HTML, which usually produced mediocre results at best.

Now, whenever you receive an attached Word document, you can click View for a nicely formatted preview. Needless to say, you also have the option of opening the document in Google Docs.

In case you're wondering, GDocs already has viewers for PDF, PowerPoint, and TIF files. Looks like you're next, Excel! [via The Official Gmail Blog]
