Va. babysitter gets 3 months in infant's death, child apparently fell off couch

(CBS/AP) PETERSBURG, Va. - A 55-year-old Virginia woman has been sentenced to three months in jail in the death of a 7-month-old girl she was babysitting.

The Times-Dispatch reports Linda Grant was sentenced Wednesday in Petersburg Circuit Court after she pleaded no contest plea to involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect.

Ke'Azia Arkea Drew Peterson of Hopewell died March 8, 2010, while under Grant's care at her home.

Grant had told police she placed the baby on a sofa surrounded by pillows and a blanket so Grant could use the bathroom. Grant says she was gone 30 seconds when the child fell to the floor.

Medical authorities determined the child had hemorrhaging of the brain.
