Use Any Flash Drive to Speed Up Your Vista PC
A few months ago, I mentioned that Windows Vista users can increase the read cache of their PCsthus speeding up loading times for start up and other applicationsby plugging in spare flash drives. The ReadyBoost function of Vista that allows users to take advantage of this trick is finicky, though, and rejects many flash drives out of hand. Luckily, a blog post at the website of Windows Vista Magazine (get your subscription today!) has come up with an innovative way to hack your PC so that any flash drive can be used. It involves a small foray into the regedit part of your start menu, but don't panic. After a relatively painless couple of minutes, you'll be back and working faster than ever.
