(CBS) PITTSBURGH - A Pennsylvania man allegedly stole an urn containing the ashes of his ex-girlfriend's late husband to get back at her, CBS Pittsburgh reports.

Police reportedly say Linda Mattrox told them about the urn after realizing it was missing from her home, and also told them that her ex-boyfriend, James Cronin, had also been texting her recently.

The urn containing the ashes of Mattrox's late husband was found in a toolbox in Cronin's yard, police told CBS Pittsburgh.

Cronin, of Perryopolis, admitted to the theft because, according to the police report, "he wanted to hurt his ex-girlfriend so he took the urn."

Cronin was taken to Fayette County booking and was awaiting arraignment.

The urn was returned to Mattrox, the station says.
