Unplugged: Old Friends and Reporters Remember Kennedy
Two of the journalists who have covered Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) for the longest, CBS News' Bob Schieffer and Tom Oliphant, formerly of the Boston Globe, sat down to reminiscence about the youngest brother of Camelot on "Washington Unplugged" on the day of the senator's death.
"He always was the senator who was willing to do the extra thing," Schieffer said.
"Can I tell a story," Oliphant responded. He explained how Kennedy was able to solidify health care for American children with the unlikely Republican ally, Orrin Hatch of Utah.
"I want you to come out to the house for dinner," Kennedy told Hatch, "and we will get out my mother's china," Oliphant remembered.
