Understanding Procrastination
This week, Slate is running a series of articles about that omnipresent elephant in the cubicle: procrastination. While most of the articles aren't exactly How-Not-To Guides, I did learn a little bit from skimming through a few of them. Emily Yoffe's piece taught me that procrastination is a learned trait, and that self-help books for said trait don't seem to work to well. Seth Stevenson's article reminded me that if I'm not going to be accomplishing anything anyways, I might as well have fun. And there's a promise of a grand unified theory of computer solitaire, but that doesn't seem to have been published quite yet. Maybe later.
