NEW YORK (CBS) "Undercovers," the new show from "Lost" creator J.J. Abrams, debuted on NBC Wednesday night, but the husband-and-wife spy show didn't fare well with critics.

Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw play Steven and Samantha Bloom- former spies who leave espionage behind in order to focus on each other.

They enjoy civilian life and their work as caterers, but each is secretly happy when they're called back to the spy game to help find a missing agent who is a key part of a major mission.

The show has a lot of Abrams staples - witty dialogue, a focus on character relationships and moments of humor amidst the action. But critics aren't sold on it yet. Some have said it's too much like (better) action shows that have come before it, like "Alias," and lamented the lack of plot in the show's pilot.

Others said they found Kodjoe and Mbatha-Raw's catering/CIA couple to be likeable, despite the show's other shortcomings.
