Tyrese Denies Hitting Pregnant Girlfriend
Despite reports to the contrary, Tyrese Gibson says he didn't hit his pregnant girlfriend, in a statement given to The ShowBuzz on Wednesday by his rep Tammy Brook.
TMZ first reported that police were conducting a criminal investigation into allegations that the singer-actor punched his girlfriend, who is three months pregnant.
"I am a very private person but as untrue information is still circulating, I feel I owe it to my fans and supporters to finally address the rumors and put them to rest once and for all," the statement said. "Please be assured that accusations of an alleged physical altercation between my girlfriend and me are absolutely false. No charges were filed. I am grateful for the prayers and support I have received over the last several weeks from my fans and supporters and I want to thank them. God Bless."
Police told TMZ that the 28-year-old's live-in girlfriend claimed the two got into an argument early in the morning on Jan. 4 at their L.A. home and that paramedics responded after he allegedly struck her twice and left the scene.
TMZ reported that Gibson was scheduled to call in to a Sacramento radio show to chat about his latest film, "Transformers," but that never happened. Reps called the station before the interview was to take place and told the DJs he was "M.I.A.," TMZ reported at the time.
