Twins' Molitor To Miss A Week

The Minnesota Twins will wait on Paul Molitor's injured right ankle before deciding on any possible trip to the disabled list.

"I think they're going to give me the benefit of the doubt and wait a couple of days to see whether to leave me in action," Molitor said Sunday.

Molitor, who is ninth on the career list with 3,280 hits, three behind Willie Mays, hurt his ankle sliding into second in the third inning of Saturday's 3-2 win over the Red Sox. He was taken for x-rays, which were negative. The ankle was tightly wrapped Sunday.

"It's a little swollen, probably a little less than last night," said Molitor, who turns 42 Saturday and has hinted that this may be his final season. "My guess is its somewhere between a mild and moderate sprain. If we're lucky maybe (I'll be back in) a week."
