Truck spills 7 tons of crab meat on Utah freeway
SALT LAKE CITYA semi-truck carrying 75,000 pounds of frozen crab rolled on I-15 Friday morning, spilling the contents on the freeway near Salt Lake City.
KUTV reports the truck was turning a corner on an off-ramp when it overturned, hit a metal guard rail and struck a sign post.
The post tore into the semi, littering the road with most of the $176,000 of seafood inside.
The driver and another occupant of the truck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries while crews continued to clean up the mess.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson says the truck's driver miscalculated a turn and over-steered to the right.
The driver and a passenger went to the hospital with minor injuries.
Johnson says a similar spill happened about 15 years ago when a smaller truck hauling seafood dumped its contents onto a Utah road.
Cleanup crews are working to clean up the mess.
