Troopers arrest suspect they say drove away from traffic stop armed, handcuffed
PARKVILLE, Md. -- Police in Maryland have arrested a man who they say drove away from a traffic stop while armed and handcuffed.
Maryland State Police identified the suspect as Marcus A. Lennon, 27, of Baltimore. They say a trooper pulled over a car in a routine traffic stop early Tuesday in Parkville, north of Baltimore. As the trooper approached, he saw a silver handgun tucked in the front of the driver's pants, state police say.
The trooper reached into the car and was able to handcuff the driver as he was still in the driver's seat. As the trooper was attempting to get the man out of the car, the driver accelerated and fled the scene.
Troopers found the vehicle abandoned a short time later.
Just after 8 a.m. Wednesday, police announced that they found Lennon at a residence in Baltimore County and arrested him without incident, reports CBS Baltimore.
Lennon was wanted for second degree assault on a state trooper with additional charges pending.
Police did not find the handgun on the suspect, and are currently searching for it, the station reports.
