Trooper gets texts seeking illegal alcohol buy
(CBS/AP) ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Bethel, Alaska is a dry town - no one there is licensed to sell alcohol in the community 400 miles west of Anchorage.
Maybe that explains why two women apparently exchanged text messages in the search for an alcoholic beverage - texts that inadvertently were received by an Alaska State Trooper.
Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters tells KTUU-TV an off-duty trooper in the southwest Alaska town began getting text messages from an unknown number just after midnight Wednesday.
The trooper, Mike Ingram, responded to the unintended texts and arranged a meeting. Authorities say the woman who sent the initial messages and an alleged buyer showed up to the meeting. So did Ingram, in uniform.
Both women face possible misdemeanor charges.
