Trial Of Ex-CIA Operative Delayed By Snow
EL PASO, Texas (AP) - The trial of a Cuba-born former CIA operative accused of lying to U.S. authorities during an immigration hearing has been suspended for a day because the Texas courthouse closed due to snow.
The trial of Luis Posada Carriles was suspended Wednesday due to bad weather in the El Paso area and is expected to resume on Thursday.
The 82-year-old anti-communist militant is charged with 11 counts of perjury, obstruction and immigration fraud. He is accused of lying during immigration hearings about how he sneaked into the U.S. in 2005, and for failing to acknowledge his role in a series of 1997 hotel bombings in Havana.
