"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" officially critic-proof
(CBS) Just when we take the time and trouble to pool together the best sections of all the fun "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" reviews out there, America comes along and reminds us it doesn't care about critics. It wants to watch robots smash things!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Bay's latest robot noise fest earned $5.5 million in pre-midnight 3D sneak previews Tuesday night along with $8 million in midnight grosses. That's $13.5 million.
Of course, if there were ever a critic-proof movie, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is it. Beloved kids' toy. Beloved animated series. Successful action director. Plus, it gives Shia LaBeouf a good outlet for his Disney shout-acting training.
