Track Your Social-Network Impact with BackType

Ever wonder how a particular blog post, news item, or Web page is trending on social sites like Facebook and Twitter? BackType shows you the social impact of any URL.

All you do is paste in a Web address and click Analyze. In a matter of seconds, BackType graphs the comments and tweets for the site, then serves up top influencers, latest tweets, and various stats from Facebook and Twitter. It's really, really cool.

And a little limited. For one thing, I don't see a way to change the date range for the Engagement graph. Plus, you can't save or export your data for future reference. On the plus side, you can compare two or more URLs to see how they fared, Engagement-wise, which is great for determining how your post on a particular subject fared against a competing blog's.

BackType is a terrific little tool, great for on-the-spot analytics of an individual Web page. It may be limited, but I guarantee you'll find it useful. For the moment, it's free.
