Tour Bus Crash Injures 4 In Texas

Two members of the Grammy-nominated band Conjunto Primavera's road crew were seriously injured Monday when the driver of a tour bus carrying the group's road crew to Odessa lost control and flipped the vehicle on its side, authorities said.

Jose Guadalupe Samaniego and J.J. Oliver were flown by helicopter to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa for treatment, Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Larry Saenz said.

Driver Rigoberto Morales, 58, and his son, Rigoberto Morales Jr., were taken to a hospital in Iraan with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Saenz said.

A spokesperson for the band says none of the band members were on board the bus when it crashed.

The accident happened about 12:15 along westbound Interstate 10 highway in Pecos County.

Authorities believe the driver was having trouble with the vehicle's right front tire and lost control.

"He had a blowout, and he was pretty shook up. ... We've had many wrecks here on this bridge before," Pecos county deputy Wes Evans told the Odessa American Web site.

The bus hit a metal guardrail on the side of the road and traveled for about 175 feet before it turned on its side, Saenz said.

A passing motorist saw the overturned vehicle and called authorities, he said.

The band is up for a Grammy on Sunday for norteno albums with its "Algo De Mi" release.
