Top Companies For The Disabled

We, a lifestyle magazine for people with disabilities, has come out with its list of the top 10 companies for disabled employees.

CBS This Morning Health Correspondent Dr. Emily Senay reports that IBM is number one this year. And according to one of its lawyers, Michael Faillace, it deserves the honor.

Blind since the age of 18 as a result of a brain tumor, Michael says, "Since I started 15 years ago, IBM has been a leader in assisting people with disabilities."

"As far as I'm concerned, for blind individuals, and blind attorneys, IBM is number one. But it could also be that I'm the number one pain-in-the-neck demander of accommodations," he added.

Those accommodations include a speaker, so Michael can hear his email, a scanner that reads written documents out loud and an assistant who reads documents that can't be translated by the computer.

Other companies on the list:

  • Federal Express
  • Microsoft
  • Johnson & Johnson
  • Wells Fargo
  • Honeywell
  • Boeing.
  • Nationsbank
  • Procter & Gamble
  • At&T
