Top 5 AU Management Books for May 2009
Here they are: the second month of figures for the top-selling management books in Australia are in (based on sales data kindly provided by Dymocks Australia). The Top 5 come from the month of April, and there are a few new entries to the chart.
Despite the fact that, according to yesterday's announcement, Australia has escaped officially entering the "recession" category, the Number 1-seller is the descriptively titled How to Feed Your Family for $75 a Week. Heck, one person can easily spend that on a dinner in Sydney's CBD!
So here are the Top 5 for May, 2009:
- How to Feed Your Family for $75 a Week
By Cynthia Mayne
I might be mistaken, but I believe this tome is also referred to as the Recession Diet. (Economists will perhaps be interested to know that an earlier edition of this book put the cost at $55/week.) - Fish!
By Stephen C. Lundin, Harry Paul, John Christensen
Would you look at that: a book in the Top 5 that isn't based on coping with the recession! Fish! instead provides a look at management lessons learned from a fish market on how to motivate employees and increase productivity. - Rich Dad, Poor Dad
By Robert Kiyosaki
Not only has this book remained in the Top 5 --- it's moved up a notch from last month. Nice to see Dad still doing so well. - Business Stripped Bare
By Richard Branson
Ever felt like you've made some business decisions that really pushed the boat out? Prepare to be disappointed --- in an inspirational way, of course (it's Richard Branson, after all). - Teach Yourself About Shares
By Roger Kinsky
Hanging on again in position 5 is the book that purports to tell you all you need to know about the share markets. As soon as we've all read this, will everything be ok?
