Tonya Harding gives birth to son

(CBS) - Figure skating champ, celebrity boxer and, now, new mom. Tonya Harding has done a lot in her nearly 20 years in the spotlight. Last Saturday she entered another chapter in her tumultuous life story by giving birth to a baby boy.

"Everybody's healthy and happy," Harding's friend Don Horn told The Oregonian. "She's always wanted a baby. She was told she could never have a child...and guess what? It really is a miracle and she really is very happy."

The 40-year-old former skater has been living in Washington State with her husband, Joseph Price, the past few years. She's currently a commentator on truTV's "World's Dumbest."

Most Americans likely still remember Harding from the 1994 Winter Olympics. Harding's ex-husband hired a thug to injure rival skater Nancy Kerrigan. Kerrigan took a metal pipe to the knee, the event became a national scandal, and Harding eventually pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution in the subsequent investigation.

Harding was reportedly unavailable for comment following a Caesarean section.
