Tommy Lee Turns Himself In

Rocker Tommy Lee turned himself in Monday to authorities in North Carolina where an outstanding warrant charges him with trying to incite a racially motivated riot during a 1997 concert.

Lee was accompanied by his attorney when he surrendered to Guilford County sheriff's deputies, CBS affiliate WFMY-TV reports. He was released on $5,000 bond.

The former Motley Crue drummer faces charges of felony rioting and three misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, assault and inciting a riot. The band's bass player, Nikki Sixx, was arrested during a concert in Raleigh last month.

During an October 1997 concert at the Greensboro Coliseum, Sixx allegedly directed a racial slur at a black guard and encouraged the crowd of 2,500 to attack him. Other guards said Sixx and Lee poured a drink onto the guard's head.

The guard and his employer filed a lawsuit against Sixx and Lee last year. That civil trial is scheduled for November.
