Tom Lantos Dies

Rep. Tom Lantos, a California Democrat who chaired the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has died, according to the Associated Press.  He was 80.

Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor to serve in Congress, died at Bethesda Naval Medical Center, his spokeswoman told the AP.

Lantos released a statement last month disclosing he had been diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus and would not seek another term in the House.
