(CBS) VH1 is bringing some TLC to the small screen.

The network announced Thursday that it is making a biopic about the female supergroup, which was made up of Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.

The group found success with albums like "CrazySexyCool" and "FanMail," but also suffered through a public bankruptcy suit and Lopes' tragic death in 2002.

Watkins and Thomas have signed on as consultants and executive producers on the project. Kate Lanier ("What's Love Got To Do With It," "Beauty Shop") will pen the screenplay.

"The reality of this brings me to tears because I am seeing one of my dreams come to life. I always felt our story had to be told," Thomas said in a statement.

Watkins added, "I'm just overjoyed... Well here we go on another TLC ride and I can't wait."

The network did not say when the program will air.
